AB 2250 (AB 8 clean-up) was approved by the Governor and chaptered on Sep 27, 2026 (Chapter 593, Statutes of 2026). It amends tax, track-and-trace and tobacco-licence sections and the definition of cannabis concentrate (CBN isolate, from Jan 1, 2028); it does not amend the sale bans of B&P 26070.2. Read on Oct 8, 2026. Until Jan 1, 2028 a cannabis licensee may not possess, transport, distribute, manufacture or sell industrial hemp (B&P 26000.5).

From Dec 11, 2026, hemp means total THC including THCA at 0.3% or less by dry weight; final products are capped at 0.4 mg total THC per container; cannabinoids made outside the plant (converted delta-8, delta-10) are excluded. Scheduled — Dec 11 is also the day the federal funding bill expires, and the White House budget office asked Congress in June for 'at minimum, an extension'. Watch the countdown.
